Heat Prevention Campaign – Looking Out for Each Other!
Within the framework of the HEATSAFE project, the Regional Council of Durrës continues its awareness campaign aimed at preventing the health risks associated with high summer temperatures.
Through this campaign, practical and easy-to-follow advice is being shared with residents and visitors to help them protect their health during periods of extreme heat.
Look Out for the People Around You
When temperatures rise, it is particularly important to pay attention to people who may be more vulnerable to heat.
Check on elderly relatives, neighbours, and people who live alone. A phone call, a short visit, or simply asking whether they need assistance can make a significant difference.
Particular attention should be given to older people, individuals with health conditions, and anyone who may have greater difficulty coping with extreme temperatures.
Simple Steps for a Safer Summer
During periods of high temperatures, it is recommended to:
- drink water regularly throughout the day;
- stay in shaded or cool areas whenever possible;
- avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during the hottest hours;
- wear light and comfortable clothing suitable for hot weather;
- regularly check on relatives, neighbours, and other people who may need assistance.
These preventive measures are simple, but they can play an important role in reducing the health risks associated with extreme heat.
A Community Better Prepared for Extreme Heat
Responding to heatwaves is not only an individual responsibility. It also requires solidarity and mutual care within the community.
Through awareness and accessible information, the campaign aims to help people better understand preventive measures and become more prepared to protect themselves and those around them during periods of extreme temperatures.
Enjoy the summer safely, stay hydrated, and look out for one another!
This initiative is implemented within the framework of the HEATSAFE project, co-funded by the European Union through the Interreg Euro-MED Programme.
