BLUNEW Round Table – Western Balkans University, Pyramid of Tirana
The Durres Regional Council took part in the round table organized by the Western Balkans University within the framework of the BLUNEW project – Blue Economy Network for Sustainable Innovation, co-funded by the Interreg IPA ADRION Programme. The activity, held at the Pyramid of Tirana, gathered public institutions, academia, the private sector, civil society organizations, and key stakeholders engaged in the development of the Blue Economy.
A Key Collaboration Platform for the Blue Economy
The event served as an important dialogue platform where participants shared experiences and innovative practices, identified new opportunities for cooperation, and exchanged perspectives on the development of aquatic systems – from seas to rivers, lakes, and their related ecosystems.
The round table reaffirmed the role of the Blue Economy as a sector with high potential for innovation, sustainable development, and value creation across the region.
Discussions on Sustainability, Digitalization, and Blue–Green Partnerships
Discussions focused on the role of institutions in building sustainable, digital, and collaborative ecosystems. Participants highlighted the need to create new partnerships in blue and green innovation sectors, as well as to strengthen interregional cooperation through successful practices that have demonstrated positive territorial impact.
The dialogue also addressed how emerging technologies, cross-sector collaboration, and integrated approaches to water resource management can contribute to the enhancement of ecosystem sustainability and resilience.
Durres Regional Council’s Contribution to Regional and European Networks
Through its participation, the Durres Regional Council continued to strengthen the visibility of its territory within regional and European initiatives, bringing forward perspectives aimed at improving water resource management and encouraging innovative development.
